“Imitate God in everything you do because you are His dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ.” (Ephesians 5:1, NLT)
Skopos is the Greek word for goal. It’s a mark or a place of focus used especially in a race where one looks at the end goal and runs toward it. Skopos is used in Philippians 3:14 where Paul says, “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” We picked Skopos as a title for this program because we want you to remember that we have a goal.
“More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things and count them mere rubbish so that I may gain Christ.” (Phi 3:8)
Skopos
We, as Christians, run toward a point, toward a destination. From the preceding verse, it’s clear what Paul’s goal is. He is focused on “knowing Christ Jesus.” He wants to experience Jesus. Paul counted all things loss compared to knowing Him. He counted them “rubbish” so that he may “gain Christ.”
The Skopos Discipleship ministry is a tool that can help guide believers in working toward that goal – the goal of knowing Christ fully.
